One of my favorite things about yearly goals is being able to look back and see how I did! I think there is a fine line between taking goals to seriously and not seriously enough (and it’s different for everyone), but I think I did a pretty good job with it this year. Without further ado, here are the 2020 reading goals I set back in January!
1. Goodreads Goal – 100 books
I surpassed this! I reached 123 books this year! 100 is a reasonable goal for me, since I do read around that much every year.
2. Read More Nonfiction
I read 5 nonfiction books this year…which yes, is more than the 4 I read in 2019 that I set to top. I am currently reading a 6th, but I won’t finish it in time to count for 2020.
3. Reread Old Favorites
I reread 11 books this year! I was definitely better about it in the early months of the year, and (understandably) lost steam later on. I had wanted to reread previous books in series when a new book released, but I gave that up to save time.
4. Read Graphic Novels I Own Already
The two graphic novels/manga I wanted to get to were Fullmetal Alchemist and the Avatar: The Last Airbender/Legend of Korra graphic novels.
I ended up reading Fullmetal Alchemist over the course of two weeks at work (one omnibus volume a day) back when the pandemic started and I had absolutely no work to do, but still had to be at work. I’m so glad I finally read these!
I read one of the A:TLA comics early in the year and just this week I realized that I never got back to them. I had 6 days left of the year and 5 comics to read, so I tried to read one per day. I have Turf Wars, the first Legend of Korra comic, to read still, but I can definitely get that done before the clock strikes midnight!
5. Make Regular Blog and Instagram Posts
I was doing very well with this initially this year, but the last several months have been a struggle. I’m giving myself a pass on this one.
6. Interact on Social Media More
Did I do this? It doesn’t feel like I did. I did try to comment more on other people’s posts, but I did want to stay caught with Instagram and reading blogs, but that also kind of slipped towards the end of the year.
Overall, I think I did pretty well, especially considering the year we’ve all had! I’ll be posting about my 2021 goals soon, but in the meantime, have a good New Years’ and good riddance to 2020!

Love your goals Sarah!! Have to start my Bookstagram posting again, and hope that my mojo comes back soon. Also I love re-reading and did a lot this year, I actually re-read all my favorites this year, I was so bored at times with new books, that I prefered reading old favorites. I’m keeping my goal at 100 too for this year, same as last year. It’s a number that is feasible and doesn’t put too much pressure on me.

I really wish I reread more, because when I did, I loved it! 100 is definitely a good solid goal for me as well.
