Reading Habits Book Tag!

I was tagged by Emily over at Moonlight & Moths! Thank you so much for tagging me! This looks like a fun one.

Do you Have A Certain Place At Home For Reading?

There is an over-sized chair with an ottoman in the living room that is ~my~ chair (I live with my parents so technically it is their chair, but I’ve claimed it). It’s super comfortable because I can sit a bunch of different ways in it. I’m in this chair like 90% of the time that I’m at home and awake, so I definitely do a lot of reading in this chair. I also read in my bed, but not as much lately because I can’t seem to get comfortable.

Bookmark or Random Piece of Paper?

BOTH. I have so many bookmarks, but I will still just use a random receipt a lot of the time.

Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/a certain amount of pages?

I can definitely just stop. I read at work a lot because I’m waiting for more work to show up, but it can also show up at any time, so I get interrupted a lot. I definitely find it more satisfying to stop at the end of a chapter though!

Do you eat or drink while reading?

Yes! I mean, I’m constantly drinking (water) anyway, so I definitely do while reading. Normally, I don’t eat meals while reading, but I’ll eat snacks sometimes.

Multitasking: music or T.V. while reading?

I definitely listen to music while reading (I even made about post about it). I find it helps me drown out other noise and helps me get lost in the story. Usually, I get so lost in the story that I actually ignore the music anyway. TV on the other hand…that will distract me no matter what.

One book at a time or several at once?

If you count audiobooks (which I do), then several! I used to have like 3 or 4 physical books going at once, but I’m pretty good at keeping it just one now. I have one physical book and one audiobook that I’m working on pretty much at all times.

Reading at home or everywhere?

Everywhere! I bring a book with me almost always, unless I’m going somewhere that I know it’s unnecessary. The only exception to this is when I reading a giant book (like right now I’m reading Oathbringer, which is more than 1,200 pages), I won’t be lugging that along with me.

Reading out loud or silently in your head?

SILENT. I’m actually terrible at reading out loud because I stumble over pretty much every word lol. I definitely read faster than I can speak, so I think my mouth doesn’t have time to catch up.

Do you read ahead or even skip pages?

You’ve caught my bad habit…I used to be really bad and read the last sentence of a book, which I’ve mostly stopped doing. Sometimes I will flip through a book and if a phrase sticks out to me, I will read a little bit. Usually this ends up being a kissing scene lol so then I’m anticipating it and I know when I’m getting close to that part. I used to be really bad and read the last sentence of a book, which I’ve mostly stopped doing.

While thinking about this, I realized I do this with TV shows too! It’s mostly with KDramas, but I’ll look up the title and “kiss scene” and see the outfits the characters are wearing, so then when I’m watching and I see them in those outfits, I know a kiss is close 😂

Breaking the spine or keeping it new?

I don’t go out of my way to do either. I think a new book looks nice, but I also think a clearly loved book looks nice. Basically, books look nice!

Do you write in your books?

No! I will annotate with stickies, but no, I don’t write in them. I did when I was younger, so one of my Harry Potter books has a … lovely portrait of Harry and at least one book in The Inheritance Cycle has Eragon’s journey marked on the map.

What reading habits do you have? Hope you all have a lovely weekend! 💜
