Happy 2020 everyone! I never made a formal post about my reading goals for 2019 (partially because I hadn’t started my blog yet), but I really want to set some goals that will push me a little, while still be achievable.
1. Goodreads Goal – 100 books
My Goodreads goal for 2019 was 100 books and it is a comfortable number. I read 127 books in 2018 and 117 in 2019, so I think I can get over 100 for a third year in a row. This isn’t the biggest deal to me, but it will be in the back of my mind this year.
2. Read More Nonfiction
This was a goal of mine for 2019 as well, and I did read 4 nonfiction books, but I still want to do better. I pretty much only read memoirs and I do enjoy them, but I want to push myself to read more than just that.
3. Reread Old Favorites
I always feel guilty rereading books because I could be getting to books that I’ve bought. Part of the reason I buy books though, is so that I can reread my favorites. I reread 6 books in 2019, and it felt great! I really want to specifically get to A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas, The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer, and The Books of Bayern by Shannon Hale.
4. Read Graphic Novels I Own Already
I don’t know why I do this, but I have two series of graphic novels/manga that I own, but haven’t read. The first is Fullmetal Alchemist by Hiromu Arakawa. I’ve been collecting the 3-in-1 editions since 2012 and I’ve had all of them for probably 5 years, but I’ve never read through the whole thing. I adore the anime (Brotherhood), so I know I will love the manga, but I just haven’t sat down and read them.
The other series is the Avatar: The Last Airbender and the Legend of Korra graphic novels. I’ve had these for a few months and just haven’t read them. Again, I don’t know why because I know I will enjoy them (for the most part).
5. Make Regular Blog and Instagram Posts
I am pretty regular with posting already, but I want to be better about it. I want to post on Instagram every day, without fail. There are some days I don’t simply because I didn’t know what to post, so I want to have a stash of backup pictures I can draw from when I don’t have something to post.
As for the blog, I want to post every other day. Since I read a lot, I have a lot of reviews to write and post, but when I’m going through a slump, I don’t have anything to review. I want to make sure I still have posts to post at those times, even if they are a tag post or other shorter post.
6. Interact on Social Media More
I’m always so thankful when people like and comment my posts, both here and on Instagram, but I don’t feel like I spend enough time liking and commenting on their posts. I really want to get better at it! Part of it has to do with social anxiety and the fear of being judged, but I realized that whenever I receive comments, I am just happy someone commented.
What are your goals for the new year, reading or otherwise?

Yes, yes yes. Reread those books! I reread my favorite series once or twice a year. Sometimes it just helps me cleanse my palate, or get out of a slump, or just because I want to! I so encourage rereads. Don’t let your TBR intimidate you into not rereading.

I’ve reread a few books recently and it just feels SO GOOD! I’m definitely going to be prioritizing rereads over buying new books, at least for a while

Absolutely! Or even try out your local library before committing to buying new books, if that option is available to you. Rereading is like visiting with old friends. It’s so wonderful. 🙂 ❤
