Spoiler Free Review:
This series continues to be so much fun! It is so easy to get through, meaning I don’t want to put it down and I can’t wait to read more! After the bombshell that was dropped at the end of Bring Me Their Hearts, I was so curious where this book would go. I have to say, I was expecting something different based on the cover, but I still really enjoyed this book.
Because of her actions at the end of the previous book, Zera has a lot of apologies to make and things to think about. Throughout the book, she struggles with trusting other people and valuing herself as much as she values other people.
I really, really enjoy the romance in this series. There is something about it that just speaks to me. In this book specifically, Zera and Lucien hover between hate and love and I adore that dynamic. I also really enjoy the friendships. Zera makes new friendships in this book, but she also tries to repair old ones.
I don’t necessarily love the “villain” in this book. Her motivations are solid, but I feel like the route she is taking to achieve them is kind of roundabout. I don’t feel like I had enough time to develop any feelings about her, so I just don’t really care about her, despite how her actions are affecting the other characters.
As with the first book, some of the writing is a little cheesy. Zera is always cracking jokes and honestly, a lot of them fall flat for me. It’s not a huge deal, but it’s definitely one of the few things in this book that could be improved.
The ending of this book was wild! It really just left me want more, in a good way. So much happened and I need answers!
I absolutely love this series and I can’t wait for the last book! They are such entertaining books and they are impossible to put down.
Thank you to Entangled Publishing for sending me an ARC of this book. My opinions are my own.
