I know “don’t judge a book by it’s cover” is an age old saying, but I will be the first to admit that I do judge books by their covers. Honestly, this hasn’t turned out too badly for me! As I browse Instagram, Twitter, Goodreads, WordPress, ect. all the time, I am pretty up to date with popular books. Even if I don’t really know what they are about, I’ve at least seen them around. This makes it super exciting when I go to the bookstore and pick up a book that I have never seen before.
It can be a little scary for me to go into a book without having looked up the Goodreads rating or heard a review, but honestly, the few books I have picked up knowing nothing have ended up being some of my favorite books!
BRING ME THEIR HEARTS by Sara Wolf
This cover caught my attention because you don’t often see artwork like this on young adult books. I was immediately intrigued by it, so I picked it up, read the flap, and bought it right away. I ended up reading it all in one sitting! It was such an unique premise and I thought the world building was really cool. The sequel comes out next month, and I can’t wait to give this book a reread before diving in!
Mini-synopsis: Immortal Zera must bring the crown prince’s heart to the witch who controls her.
I probably knew the most about this book going in out of the three I am talking about today. All I knew is that it had to do with the Twelve Dancing Princess fairytale, which I didn’t really know much about anyway. The cover has a dark ocean vibe, which I absolutely love! This book ended up scaring me, but it was such a fun book!
Mini-synopsis: Twelve sisters live on an island and then they start mysteriously dying one by one.
I was immediately drawn to this book because purple is my favorite color. It was as simple as that! The description sounded cool and the cover was pretty, so I guess that’s all it takes for me to be interested in a book. I ended up absolutely loving this book! It was a little creepy, but overall, a super fun and entertaining read.
Mini-synopsis: A virus is going around that makes people want to kill others once they’ve been infected.
What books have you bought based on the cover and ended up loving?
